Consumer Reports names Niro #1 for reliability

The exciting new Kia Niro just keeps getting more and more rave reviews.

Consumer Reports recently released its 2017 Annual Auto Survey, based on data collected on 640,000 vehicles. Based on that information, they predict which cars will give owners fewer problems than their competitors.

The survey takes a deep dive into the numerous things that can go wrong with a vehicle.
They study 17 trouble areas, from nuisances—such as squeaky brakes and broken interior trim—to major bummers, like out-of-warranty transmission repairs or trouble with four-wheel-drive systems. They weigh the severity of each type of problem to create a Predicted Reliability Score for each vehicle. That score is then combined with data collected from their track testing, as well as their owner-satisfaction survey results and safety data, to calculate each test vehicle’s Overall Score.

Based on their analysis, guess which vehicle is the #1 most reliable?

Kia Niro. How about that.

Here is some of what they said…

“Kia’s five-passenger Niro marries good fuel economy with cargo versatility. This front-wheel-drive hybrid uses a 1.6L 4-cyl engine that in conjunction with the electric drive unit, puts out a combined 139 hp. This combo is mated to a 6-spd dual-clutch transmission. Because the lithium-ion battery is located under the rear seat, the result is a flat cargo floor when the rear seats are folded down. A suite of advanced safety features is available, including automatic emergency braking, smart cruise control, and blind-spot detection with rear cross-traffic alert.”

And there’s THIS good news! 2017 Kia Niro has been recognized by the editors of Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com, the trusted consumer website. KBB.com highlights vehicles with a variety of alternative-fuel powertrain configurations that can still accommodate the lifestyle and budget of many new car shoppers. It named 2017 Niro a top pick among “eco-friendly cars under $40,000”. Here at Barnett, it’s WAY under $40,000, starting under $24,230!

Niro also was J.D. Power’s “Highest Ranked Small SUV in Initial Quality”.
